Written for adults (6th grade reading level) to help them with financial decisions related to money goals & choices (2 units); kids and cash(1 unit); spending & saving plans(2 units); reading a paycheck (1 unit); using a checking account (1 unit); managing credit (1 unit); and dealing with debt (1 unit). 

The 9 units are flexible; culturally sensitive; and include background information on financial concepts, teaching tips, handout/visual masters, learner assessment tools, material appendix.  Handouts available in Spanish.

Learning the Language of Money (MN Dept. of Employment & Economic Development)

Written for adults (6th grade reading level) related to gaining a deeper understanding of the economic systems in different cultures.  3 units focus on the history, beliefs, values, and practices of the financial systems within the Hmong, Latino, and Somali cultures.

At the end of each cultural discussion, it integrates the Money Smart units with each culture to help those who assist families with strategies for managing their money.

Money Smart (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation)

Written for adults (6th grade reading level) related to fostering financial stability for adults with 10 training modules focused on: bank services; credit; checking accounts; tracking money; saving; consumer rights; credit reports; credit cards; borrowing money; home ownership.

Within each module, teachers are given preparation information; materials and equipment needed; steps for instruction; handout & visual masters; additional activities; evaluation formats.   Available in Spanish.
